서안에 도착한 다음 날은 당나라 고승 현장법사가 인도에서 귀국할 때 가지고 온 경전이나 불상을 보전하기 위해 지었다는 서안대안탑(西安大雁塔)을 돌아본다. 이 탑이 있는 곳은 대혜은사 경내에 있다. 당초에는 오층 벽돌탑이었지만 나중에 7층으로 증축했다고 한다. 높이는 64.5 미터.
Dayan Pagoda is in the Great Ci'en temple of the city of Xi'an. It was built in the 3rd year of Yonghui Reign of Emperor Gaozong of the Tand Dynasty (A.D. 652) and served as the place for Monk Xuanzang to translate Buddhist scriptures. The original pagoda had only five stories and the present Dayan Pagodaa has seven stories and is 64.5 meters high in the shape of a squre pyramid.
