기아 Soul, Venga 우수 디자인상 후보로 지명되다

Where's The Money, Deaf Man?

 

The mafia was looking for a new man to make weekly collections from all the private businesses that they were 'protecting'. Feeling the heat from the police forces, they decided to use a deaf person for this job- if he were to get caught, he wouldn't be able to communicate to the police what he was doing.

Well, on his first week, the deaf collector picks up over $50,000. He gets greedy, decides to keep the money and stashes the money in a safe place. The mafia soon realizes that their collecion is late, and sends some of their hoods after the deaf collector. The hoods find the deaf collector and ask him where the money is. The deaf collector can't communicate with them, so the mafia drags the guy to an interpreter.
The mafia hood says to the interpreter, "Ask him where the money is."
The interpreter signs, "Where is the money?"
The deaf man replies, "I don't know what you're talking about."
The interpreter tells the hood, "He says he doesn't know what you're talking about."
The hood pulls out a .38 pistol and places it in the ear of the deaf collector. "Now ask him where the money is."
The interpreter signs, "Where is the money?"

The deaf man signs, "The $50,000 is in Central Park, hidden in the third tree stump on the left from the West 78th Street gates."
The interpreter says to the hood. "He says he still dosen't know what you're talking about

and you don't have the guts to pull the trigger."

 

 

마피아가 개인 사업하는 사람들에게 사업을 '보호'해준다는 명목으로 매주 수금할 사람을 찾고 있었다 . 경찰의 동태가 이상하다고 느낀 그들은 벙어리를 채용하기로 했다. 그래야 그가 경찰에게 체포되더라도 그가 무슨 일을 하는지 경찰과 소통을 할 수 없을 것이라고 생각했기 때문이다.

 

그가 일하기 시작한 첫주에 그는 50,000 달러를 수금했다.  돈을 보자 갑자기 욕심이 생긴 그는 그 돈을 챙기기로 결심하고 안전한 곳에 감추었다. 마피아는 수금이 늦어지는 것을 알아차리고 그의  똘마니한테 그 수금원의 뒤를 밟도록 했다. 그 똘마니는 벙어리 수금원을 찾아내고 돈을 어디 뒀는지 물었다. 벙어리와 대화를 할 수 없게된 마피아는 수화를 하는 통역하는 사람한테 데리고 갔다.

 

마피아 똘마니가 통역에게 말했다. "그 놈한테 돈이 어디 있는냐고 물어봐."

벙어리 통역은 수화로 물었다.." 돈이 어디 있어?"

벙어리는 대답했다. "무슨 말을 하는지 모르겠습니다."

통역인은 마피아에게 말했다."무슨 말을 하는지 모르겠다고 하네요"

마피아 똘마니는 38구경 권총을 꺼내서 그 벙어리 귀에 가까이 대고는 "물어 봐, 돈은 어디 있냐고."

통역인은 수화로 "돈은 어디 있나?"

그러자 벙어리 수금원은 50,000 달러는 센트럴 파크  서 78 가 대문에서 왼쪽으로 세번째 나무 밑둥이에 감춰두었습니다." 라고 대답했다.

통역인은 마피아에게 말했다. "그는 아직 당신이 무슨 말을 하는지 모른다고 하네요. 그리고 당신은 겁쟁이라서 방아쇠도 당기지 못하는 놈이라고 말합니다. "

 

놈은 마피아 똘마니가 벙어리를 죽익를 바라며 약을 올린 것이다. 벙어리를 죽이면 돈은 영영 자기것이 되니까. 하긴 돈 싫어하는 놈 있을까? 이래서 통역인은 졸지에 50,000 달러를 벌게 되고..
