Memories of Kilimanjaro 2 - Trekking

킬리만자로 국립공원 입구 마랑구 게이트 (1,980m)에서 입산허가를 받아 본격적인 트레킹은 시작된다. 해발 3,000 까지는 열대 우림 지역을 지나게 된다. 
Up to as high as 3,000 meter it is a tropical forest area. And shrubery zone starts up to 4,000 meter and after then we could hardly find any plants growing.

호롬보 산장에서는 이틀을 지냈다. 이튼날 오전에는 해발 4,200 미터 고지까지 고소적응을 위한 출정을 하고 산장에 돌아와 오후에는 종일 휴식을 취한다.
Stayed two days at Horombo hut for a sort ot training to get used to a high altitude before proceed to Kibo hut which is as high as 4,200 m above sea level.

호롬보에서 키보산장까지 오는데는 거의 아홉시간이 걸렸다. 정말 긴 하루였다.  
It was almost nine hours trekking from Horombo hut to Kibo hut on fourth day in the mountain. And it was a long day.

가도 가도 끝이 안보인다.
It seems like there is no end.

바로 눈앞에 키보산장이 보이는데 아무러 걸어도 가까워지질 안는다.
Kibo hut looks like it is close and just around the corner but ...

드디어 키보산장, 해발 4,795 m 에 도착한다.
At last we arrived at the Kibo hut. 4,795m

이른 아침식사를 대충하고 하산길에 오른다. 호롬보산장을 떠나 오는 길 뒤편에 킬리만자로의 만년설이..
We left Horombo hut early in the morning. In the back there Kilimanjaro's snow-capped peak is showing.

킬리만자로를 방문하는 트레커들이 늘면서 호롬보산장도 확장 공사를 하고 있었다. 우리가 내려오는 길에서 머리에 판자를 이고 목재를 산장까지 나르는 사람들과 마주쳤다. 킬리만자로 2대 거봉, 우후루 피크(오른쪽)와 마웬지 피크(왼쪽)가 고개 넘어 보인다.
Porters' are carrying timbers to Horombo as it is now being expanded. Two main peaks of Kilimanjaro are showing over the hill.

언제나 고된 일에는 휴식이 최고다.
There is nothing sweet like a break when hard working.
